The fastest boats on the planet fly over the water at more than 90 km/h. And for the first time they are doing it in Valencia, on 5 and 6 September, at the Marina.
Here is what you need to know before you go. And above all, what the official site does not tell you: the venue closes at four in the afternoon. What happens after that is up to you.

Waterfront Grandstand
€72 / day · €115 weekend
Raised grandstand overlooking the race course, with big screens. Unreserved seating and no shade: first come, best seat.
VELA Beach Club
€399 / day · €635 weekend
Covered lounge area with food and drinks included and fast-track entry. It is the only shaded part of the venue, and in September in Valencia that matters.
Prices exclude booking fees. Note: tickets are sold online only — there is no box office on the day.

Before you leave home
Uber cannot access the venue. Only taxis and public transport, and expect road closures.
Bring a reusable bottle. Single-use plastic bottles are confiscated at the gate and not returned.
Cap and sunscreen. Apart from VELA, the whole venue is in the open.
One bag, 30 × 30 cm maximum, and no food or drink from outside.
And then it is 16:00. Now what?
Here is the good part. You walk out of the Marina mid-afternoon, in the best month of the year and in the best part of the city. Las Arenas beach is ten minutes away. The City of Arts, barely more.
Nobody comes to Valencia for two days to be in bed by six in the evening.
Dinner by the sea
After five hours in the sun watching boats, you will want to sit down. Sabbia is right on the beachfront: Valencian rice dishes, market-fresh fish and a live show on Saturdays at 20:30.
That weekend the beach will be packed. Book days in advance or you will not get a table.
Going out at night
Valencia is not an early city. Clubs open at midnight and run until seven in the morning. If you are visiting, do not eat at nine expecting to go out at eleven.
MYA Club y L’Umbracle are in the same City of Arts complex: one indoors, the other an open-air terrace. On Friday and Saturday they run connected, so one entry gets you both.
